A SQUIRREL goes nuts for a disposable vape pen — laying bare Britain's plastic crisis. The wild rodent was seen picking up the discarded e-cigarette before chewing on the purple puffer.

The labourer, of Leeds, said: "The irony was I was having a cigarette out my window when I saw this squirrel puffing on a vape. "It really looked like it was trying to smoke it. I fear it could potentially die if it bites into the battery. "Seeing that made me fear for all the other animals potentially getting hooked on the flavours. "Littered e-cigarettes are a real issue now and only getting worse. "I see so many in the Yorkshire Dales. They need to be banned as soon as possible as it's a danger to nature and our planet." A boom in sales has meant millions of single-use vapes end up in landfill. Their lithium batteries could be reused in electric cars and other tech.
