House fire near Levin takes eight crews three hours to bring under control

Firefighters responded to a house fire on Saturday night south of Levin. Central fire communications shift manager Ryan Dawson said two fire trucks from Levin were initially called to the fire near Speldhurst. When they arrived, around 9pm, they saw the building was well ablaze, he said. Dawson said then two further trucks from Otaki, one truck from Waitarere Beach, one additional tanker from Horowhenua, one tanker from Palmerston North and a support vehicle from Levin, also responded.
