More than 2,000 prisoners are held in the massively overcrowded jail \- and it said more than two thirds of them do not even have beds. Children who have been detained alongside their nursing mums also live inside the prison. And inmates who protest the conditions are often subject to torture by being crammed into solitary confinement. Sahar ended up on a ventilator after contracting coronavirus while in jail, seeing her beg for freedom. However, the US-based Centre for Human Rights in Iran said that a request for bail was denied by a judge.
