The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind in Scotland as well as a rain warning for parts of north England Southern England can expect highs of 18C with parts of the West Midlands reaching 16C. And Scotland will see highs of 16C this afternoon before it turns cold and damp with flood alerts being issued. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind across northern and western parts of Scotland on Friday between 8am and 3pm. People are being warned to expect delays on the roads, on trains and on ferries with coastal routes being affected by large waves. A yellow weather warning for rain has also been issued to South Scotland and North England \- from 8am until 2pm \- which could affect bus and train services due to flooding. Showers and strong winds are expected to develop in the north later on tonight with England and Wales turning chilly. Tomorrow will start off dry and bright in central and southern areas with downpour and gales of 75mph sweeping east throughout the day. Met Office Meteorologist Chris Almond said: "This will bring a much wetter and windier spell than we've seen so far this autumn, but nothing that is unusual for the time of year. "The fast-moving system will bring strong gale force winds, locally in excess of 60mph, and heavy rain into the northwest before pushing quickly southeast through the day. ...We could see some minor impacts, such as surface water flooding or minor wind damage, as well as some short-lived impacts on ferry crossings, especially in exposed areas of western Scotland and eastern areas of Northern Ireland. ...Later in the day, parts of southeast England could experience winds of around 55mph, which may impact the English Channel too."
