Paul Pelosi pleaded guilty to a drinking and driving charge after he crashed into another car in May 2022. Court documents say Paul was on his way home from a dinner party when he allegedly drove through a stop sign and crashed into an SUV on the night of May 28. Police officers responded to the scene and said Paul, 82, was sitting in the driver's seat and appeared to be intoxicated. "His eyes appear red/watery, he was unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred, and he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath," the complaint claims. The driver of the SUV, identified only as John Doe in court docs, refused medical attention at the scene but has since claimed he's experiencing ...headaches... in the weeks following the crash. Paul was detained in the Napa Couty Jail before being released on bail. He did not appear in court on August 23, but his attorney, Amanda Bevins entered a guilty plea on his behalf. His guilty plea comes three weeks after Paul pleaded not guilty to the charges which would require a trial by jury. The settlement had been scheduled for August 23, and Bevins told The Washington Post: "At a settlement conference a defendant may enter into a plea agreement, continue the matter for further settlement conference or set the matter for a jury trial.... Paul's guilty plea resulted in three years probation and five days in jail, with credit for the time he already served. He is also required to pay a $150 fine, attend a three-month impaired driver program, nine hours of a court work program, and an ignition interlock device \- a device that requires the driver to breathe into a tube that tests for alcohol before the car will start.
