A BRIT dad-of-four has been left in a coma after being brutally stabbed three times in a savage random attack while on a stag do in Algarve. Joel Collins, from Troedyrhiw, is the second Welsh victim to be stabbed in the Portuguese coastal city of Albufeira this year. Joel was rushed to a hospital in Faro after a member of the public saw him unconscious in the street with four deep wounds to his stomach. He suffered cuts to his pancreas, lungs, intestines and stomach and is in intensive care after five separate operations, his sister Heidi Collins said. News of the attack has since reached Alex Evans, another Brit who was stabbed three times and left for dead in the same area in May. He was stabbed and found by a local man who, instead of waiting for an ambulance, took him to hospital, an act that doctors said saved his life. Heidi said her brother has limited memory of what had happened to him three weeks ago, but nurses said it looked like Joel had been mugged, as he arrived at the hospital without his phone or any ID. He was left with deep stab wounds and has since been placed in intensive care following multiple surgeries. He is due to have another on Monday. Heidi said the family ...were just taking it day by day now.... The language barrier has proved difficult for Joel's family, who are still unsure as to whether the incident had been reported to the Portuguese police. They said someone from the police spoke to him when he arrived at hospital but they'd been asked later by nurses whether Joel had reported it.
