A SPECIALIST with the Ohio Army National Guard has now been missing for a month. Michaela Nelson completed her Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Jackson on October 2 but failed to return to her unit, military authorities said in a statement.

Her family believes she is still alive although could be in hiding, James Terry, the private investigator hired to find her, said. Nelson's phone is off but her FaceTime still rings, according to Terry. He told Fox News Digital: "She's using a phone, some sort of phone. She just doesn't have her number on." Nelson's last contact with relatives was at the end of October when she had a text message exchange with her grandmother, cousin Elise Miller said Friday. Terry claimed Nelson's new interests and the recent death of her mom could have led to a change in her priorities and she may be trying to avoid being punished for not returning to her unit. Nelson posted a TikTok video in August saying she was taken at the NBA Finals a month earlier. She posted again a week later, addressing concerns she'd failed out of officer cadet school. ...First and foremost, Spc. For her social media accounts, Nelson used the name Michaela Kay and may have also been known as Kayla Kay. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Columbus Police Department at 614-645-4545. Terry has also urged anyone who has information about Nelson's whereabouts but is reluctant to call police to call Gulf Coast Investigation at 813-993-2242.
