After spending 133 days alone on a life raft, sailor Poon Lim is rescued by Brazilian fishermen on April 5, 1943.
Poon Lim was aboard the British service provider vessel SS Benlomond when it was torpedoed by a German U-boat.
It took simply two minutes for the cargo ship to sink.
After two hours within the water, Poon Lim managed to get aboard a life-raft stocked with biscuits and water.
However the provides quickly ran out as he drifted throughout the Atlantic, and he resorted to fishing and catching and consuming sea birds.
Utilizing the stays of a lifeless chook as bait, he caught a shark by hand and drank its blood to outlive.
