Two males have been charged over the alleged theft of a dear Huge Fowl costume from an Adelaide circus.

The theft of the Sesame Road character costume, value a powerful $160,000, occurred at between four.30pm Sunday, April 18 and 9.30am Monday, April 19.

However after the incident was coated by nationwide information retailers, the thieves returned the costume to Bonython Park within the early hours of Wednesday morning with a notice left within the hen's beak apologising to circus house owners.

"We had no concept what we have been doing, or what our actions would trigger," they stated.

"We have been simply having a tough time and making an attempt to cheer ourselfs (sic) up."

The pair assured the circus house owners they didn't trigger Massive Fowl any hurt.

"Sorry to be such an enormous birden!" they stated, as they signed off as "the Huge Chook bandits".

Two males have been seen operating away from the circus simply earlier than 5am.

Following an investigation by SA Police, two males aged 26 and 22, from Norwood and Murray Bridge have been arrested final night time and charged with theft and being on premises unlawfully.

They may seem at Adelaide Magistrates Courtroom on June 30.
