Ammonia leak at Southland meatworks contained

An ammonia leak in a building within a meatworks facility near Invercargill has been contained. A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said they responded to the incident at Alliance Group's Lorneville plant in Southland shortly after 4am on Sunday. Crews from Wallacetown and Invercargill stations were sent initially, and were later joined by two more crews from Invercargill after the ammonia leak was confirmed.
