PAShe was shot dead in her garden on Sunday morning '/ ' A woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Despite the double arrest, police officers have said enquiries are still ongoing and urged the public to come forward with any information of the ...callous attack.... They specifically asked people walking close to the scene at the time to come forward to help the investigation as well. Ashley's death came the day before another shock shooting in Liverpool which killed nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel \- neither victims are thought to have been the intended targets. The council worker was enjoying a night in when one of the indiscriminately-fired shots hit her. Detectives dashed to Leinster Road in Old Swan, Merseyside at around 12.40am early on Sunday following reports of concern for a woman at the property. Emergency services rushed to the scene and found Ashley in the back garden with gunshot wounds to her body. Paramedics provided CPR and rushed her to hospital but sadly she could not be saved. Ashley died a short time later in hospital. Following enquiries, a man and a woman from Liverpool were arrested last night and taken into custody for questioning. Speaking at a conference about a spate of murders in the city, Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Kameen updated reporters on Ashley's murder. He confirmed the arrest of the man and woman, adding: ...Inquiries are continuing around those two individuals.... He said: ...In my first appeal, I asked for people to come forward who were on foot in the streets in Leinster Road, and that appeal still stands.... Nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel was fatally shot on Monday night at her home in Kingsheath Avenue, LiverpoolPA:Press Association In a tragic turn of events, Olivia was not the intended target of the shooting and instead an innocent victim of gun crime. Despite her best efforts to try and close the front door, the man forced his way inside the home, followed by the gunman. At this time, nine year-old Olivia was believed to have been standing behind her mother. The gunman then opened fire through a gap in the doorway, dispensing one bullet which hit Cheryl in the wrist and Olivia in the chest. A further two bullets were fired at the man who had forced his way into the home, as the gunman continued to try and force his way in. Just moments after the gunman fled the scene, a black Audi arrived outside to take the injured man to hospital. Olivia was left for dead in the doorway along with her mum. Officers arrived at the address and rushed Olivia to Alder Hey Children's Hospital before the North West Ambulance Service took Cheryl to Aintree Hospital. However, the injuries Olivia suffered were fatal and tragically resulted in her death. On Wednesday, August 24, 2022, Merseyside Police said a 35-year-old man injured in the shooting would be recalled to prison for allegedly breaching the terms of his licence conditions with ...poor behaviour.... Pro-Russian social media accounts have blamed the forest fires on Ukrainian forces, claiming their troops were using incendiary ammunition on the plant. Russian-backed authorities at the plant claim their security system was called into action following alleged Ukrainian shelling. Vladimir Rogov, head of the pro-Kremlin puppet regime in the region, has insisted that the power outage didn't affect Zaporizhzhia. Russian troops continue to be bogged down in a war of attrition in Ukraine, with no serious territorial gains made in months. On Thursday, President Putin announced the planned expansion of the Russian Armed Forces to more than one million with the addition of 137,000 new servicemembers. This comes as the Russian death toll in the war in Ukraine has crept up towards 50,000 with the passing of the six-month anniversary of the conflict.
