Protection lawyer Mark Richards, who's representing 18-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse throughout his murder trial, appeared to reference the police capturing of Jacob Blake in his closing argument on Monday.

Rittenhouse is charged with fatally capturing two males — Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber — and injuring a 3rd, Gaige Grosskreutz, throughout civil unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin in August 2020.

The unrest grew out of protests demanding justice for Blake, a 29-year-old Black man who was shot seven occasions within the again by Kenosha police. Blake was left partially paralyzed after the incident.

Rittenhouse has pleaded not responsible to all the fees towards him, and says he was appearing in self-defense when he shot the three males.

Kenosha County District Lawyer Michael Graveley stated he wouldn't file charges towards Sheskey and the 2 different officers on the scene as a result of prosecutors decided the capturing was in self-defense. Earlier this month, Kenosha County Circuit Decide Bruce Schroeder, who's presiding over the Rittenhouse trial, dismissed a juror who admitted to joking about Blake's dying. Schroeder stated the juror displayed "dangerous judgment" in telling a joke of that nature.

"I've talked fairly a bit about public confidence within the end result of the trial," Schroeder stated. "It's clear that the looks of bias is current. And it might significantly undermine the result of the case."
